COURSE DESCRIPTION
This private Ear Training course is designed to help high school students prepare for their audition at Berklee College of Music. The course will focus on developing your musical ear and improving your ability to recognize and reproduce musical elements such as pitch, rhythm, and harmony, which are critical skills for success at Berklee. The course will cover the following topics, which are directly relevant to the Berklee audition:
- Pitch Recognition: This module will focus on developing your ability to identify and reproduce different pitches accurately. You will learn to recognize intervals, chords, and melodies by ear, which will help you to transcribe music and play by ear, as well as to prepare for the Berklee ear training placement test.
- Rhythm Recognition: In this module, you will learn to identify and reproduce different rhythms by ear. You will also learn to count and clap rhythms, which will help you to develop your sense of time and improve your ability to play with other musicians, which is a key component of the Berklee audition.
- Harmony Recognition: This module will focus on developing your ability to recognize and reproduce different chords and harmonies. You will learn to identify chord progressions, analyze music harmony, and improvise using different chord structures, which are all important skills for the Berklee audition.
The course will be tailored to your specific needs and skill level, with a particular focus on preparing you for the Berklee audition. It will consist of a combination of live zoom sessions, exercises, and practice assignments, as well as practice tests that are similar in style and difficulty to the Berklee ear training placement test. You will receive personalized feedback and guidance from your instructor to help you progress throughout the course and maximize your chances of success at the Berklee audition.
