COURSE DESCRIPTION
In this 12-week course, students will delve into the melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic elements of contemporary music, with a focus on jazz harmony. Unlike the rigid structures of classical western harmony, jazz harmony is characterized by its fluidity and freedom. Through this course, students will not only learn how to analyze and understand their favorite songs, but they will also acquire the skills to compose new songs and rearrange others. By the end of the course, students will be well-prepared to tackle higher-level Jazz Harmony courses.

Required Tech: music notation software (MuseScore, Sibelius or Finale), GarageBand or Logic Pro X (any Digital Audio Workstation)
