With over $300,000 in cash awards and prizes in 12 categories, the John Lennon Songwriting Contest is recognized internationally by songwriters as a platform to express themselves and showcase their talent. Artists go through multiple rounds of voting from the public with the ultimate title being determined by an executive committee of judges.

This year’s judges include Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Natasha Bedingfield, The Veronicas, and Prince Royce. Entries are judged on originality, melody, composition, and lyrics.

“Unraveled” has already made waves in electronic music through its unique use of spatial audio with features in the Seattle International Film Festival, Hollywood Songwriting Contest, and several more. Unlike other songs, “Unraveled” was made for 360 video. Created with a 40-piece choir, the music moves wherever the listener turns to create rising and crashing waves of synth walls. It is best experienced in a VR headset where listeners can fully immerse themselves in the auditory masterpiece.

Yao and Sherry are incredibly thankful for everyone’s support and votes for their song that helped land them 2019 Grand Prize Winner and 2019 Lennon Award winner.

You can check out the song on the JLSC website where it is currently featured, or it can also be viewed on ICTUS Audio’s website and YouTube channel.
